As a graphic designer and lover of all things art deco, I also adore advertising art of the era in a minimialist style. Check out these gorgeous match box covers from 20s and 30s Japan. I’d love make some of these into prints for my home.

Summer is here again…
Yes, summer is here again…for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere anyway. You wouldn’t know it was summer today here in Perth though as it is currently 16C and raining! Just the way I like it 😉 Here is a group of wonderful old Aussie travel prints from the 1920s and 30s. Of course, the graphic designer in me can’t help love the Art Deco influence in some of them. Enjoy.

1920s & 30s bridge card design
I love the graphics on 1920s-1930s Bridge Tally cards. These elaborately designed (and often die-cut) cards were used to keep score in Bridge games and you will find them printed in numerous themes and patterns. I still find it incredible that such vibrant colour and detail went into items that were used only for a short time then thrown away. Amazingly stylish and designed with Art Deco elements, the tally cards really are worth collecting. Here is a group of my favourites. If you want to collect your own, many are for sale on Etsy and Ebay.
