I love the style and sophistication of 1930s fashion and have amassed a large collection of sewing pattern imagery from the era on Pinterest and thought it would be nice to share some of them here. The evening gowns of the time are my favourite with their elegant lines, bias cuts and daring open backs. I would dearly love to get my hands on some of these beauties!

Summer is here again…
Yes, summer is here again…for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere anyway. You wouldn’t know it was summer today here in Perth though as it is currently 16C and raining! Just the way I like it 😉 Here is a group of wonderful old Aussie travel prints from the 1920s and 30s. Of course, the graphic designer in me can’t help love the Art Deco influence in some of them. Enjoy.

History of flower-sack dress fabrics
Fantastic article from Kindnessblog.com about how the flower-sack dresses and clothing of the 30s and 40s came into being.
In times gone by, amidst widespread poverty, the flour mills realised that some women were using sacks to make clothes for their children. Is response, the mills started using flowered fabric… – Kindnessblog.com

Lisa Ho vintage clothing auction – Part 2
And I thought everything had been sold the first time round! Lisa Ho (Australian fashion designer) must surely have had one of the best private collections of 1920s and 30s gowns that I have ever see in one place. Most of the gowns this time round sold in lots for very reasonable prices. In some cases, $250 for five 1930s tea-gowns! Oh how I wish I could have been there, but sadly, I’m quite sure I would be broke for the rest of my life, as I would have wanted to bring all the 30s gowns home. Here is just a small look at what was on offer, which was literally hundreds of garments from the 1900s to modern, but her 20s to 40s collection was quite substantial. Enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone! Thought I’d share what has just gone into the Etsy store today with you and what will be coming up; 1940s Military Buddies sweetheart pin, 1950s silk men’s tie, 1960s sneakers, ladies coat and men’s tie and a 1930s velvet scarf. I recently sold a bunch of 60s gloves and ties to wardrobe for the US show ‘Vegas’. Keeping an eye out for those when I watch 😉
And coming up in the next I will be adding a 1920s men’s evening scarf, a sheer 1930s evening gown, an unworn 1940s sateen bolero shirt and wide pants set. Enjoy!
